Trust thanks Graydon

The Walsall Supporters' Trust (WST) paid tribute to the work of Ray Graydon at Walsall FC. To many supporters he appeared as a positive ambassador for the game and his efforts in managing the club to two promotions helped to raise the profile of the football club.

Trustee Adam Winnall noted that "Ray gave me and a lot of fans our pride back. Through what the club achieved under him, the supporters could hold their heads up high." Mr Graydon's work at the club, which included the promotion of good causes and a willingness to talk to supporters about their concerns, was an important asset to Walsall FC.

Richard Hall, Trust Chair believes that Graydon's honest approach to the game will be much missed. He stated that "we have lost an outwardly unassuming and clearly dedicated manager who got the club noticed within the community and at a national level. His first season at the club will remain a classic for all Walsall fans, a wonderful example of motivation and teamwork."

Whilst the club has become one of the best-run businesses in football over the past decade, it had lacked significant success on the pitch until Ray Graydon took over. The WST hopes that the club can manage to appoint someone with the ability to motivate both the fans and the team to respond to the club's current situation positively. The WST sends Ray Graydon all best wishes for his future.

Note to editors:

The WST is a membership organisation of dedicated Walsall FC supporters and has over 520 paid-up members. This means that its members form 10 per cent (a significant minority) of our average home crowd. These people are also shareholders in the football club with 73 shares.
