Press Release
Embrace the day
The Walsall Supporters' Trust has offered its heartfelt congratulations to everyone at the club on a wonderful end to the 2001-2002 season, and has urged fans to turn next Sunday's game against Bradford into a red-and-white party for themselves, the players and management. Trust Chair, Richard Hall, said "The game will be the last in front of the current Gilbert Alsop stand and will also be the first time that the club has been able to celebrate maintaining this status for 40 years. The club and community have every reason to see this as a great opportunity for future development. We should celebrate that fact."
Division 1 survival has given the club the chance to establish itself at a higher level. Securing the future of the new management team as soon as possible and informing the fans about the club's plans for next season would be an exceptional way to end the season. In the short-term, making a celebration of Sunday's game against Bradford will cap a memorable week. Adam Winnall of the Trust urged supporters to wear something red, bring their flags and hats, and give the players a celebration ticker-tape entry. He noted "we really do have something to celebrate and we fully intend to embrace the day."
