Trust Raffle to Support
Hospice
The Walsall Supporters'
Trust is raffling the signed home shirt worn by last year’s
player-of-the-season, Ian Roper, who was sponsored by the Trust. The shirt is
being raffled in aid of Ian’s chosen charity, the Acorns Children’s Hospice,
and has been signed by the current squad, including Paul Merson.
The Acorns Children’s
Hospice cares for children who are life-limited - that is unlikely to reach
adulthood - and offers support to their families. At the moment about 375
families in the West Midlands and Gloucestershire receive Acorns' services. The
Secretary of the Trust, Phil Sturgess noted that “Acorns relies on the
community to fund its activities and we are very happy to encourage its work.
We will be pushing our members as hard as we can to support this local
organisation.“
The proceeds from the sale
will be split between the Hospice and the Trust, in order to further the
community-work of both organisations. The Trust uses all of its proceeds to
encourage Walsall FC and the local community to work in partnership.
The raffle will be drawn on
13 September, following the home game with Derby County, and the other prizes
include: a signed Cardiff Play-Off final programme; a football signed by the
2001 Promotion winning team; a night out for two at the Bonser Suite; and a
copy of Jimmy Walker’s autobiography.
Tickets cost 50p each and books
of 10 are available from:
Walsall
Supporters’ Trust, 3 Hollinwell Close, Bloxwich. WS3 3UL.
