Walsall Supporters' Trust
Following the launch of the Walsall Supporters' Trust on Saturday the foundations are in place for the Trust to begin its work of representing the interests of Walsall fans in the running of the club. Those present adopted the proposed constitution's aims and objectives, and its democratic organisation.
Brian Lomax of the government-backed Supporters' Direct unit noted that the Trust at Walsall was one of six that had launched in the last two months and that four English clubs now had elected supporters on their Boards of Directors. He added that the launch at Walsall was part of an active, nationwide movement that was promoting fans' involvement at their clubs.
Richard Hall stated that this was the best opportunity that Walsall supporters would have to influence the way the club was run. He stressed that this was a long-term aim, and that the Trust must be responsive to its members, adding that on their own fans could achieve little, but collectively they would have a greater voice.
The Trust's aim is to buy shares and an influence at Walsall Football Club. For more information or a membership form contact: The acting Secretary, Walsall Supporters' Trust, 128 Parker Street, Bloxwich, Walsall. Or check the trust's web site: http://www.walsallfctrust.co.uk
