Minutes of the Trust Board Meeting, 7/11/00

At the first meeting of the Trust Board at the Wharf public house on Tuesday 7 November at 7.30pm, several issues were discussed. These were as follows.

  1. Registering the auditors (Clement-Keys, Swinford House, Albion Street, Brierley Hill), and new directors of the Trust (the 6 who have just been elected) with Companies House.
  2. Resolution - Bob Bates to execute.

  3. The role of the Liberal Club, Birchills.
  4. Resolution - Steve Shaw to keep Liberal Club informed throughout. They are to be given honorary corporate membership.

  5. The co-opted members of the Trust Board.
  6. Resolution - Official supporters club to be approached by Steve Shaw as co-opted members; Bob to talk to the Council about co-opting a representative. No resolution on a business input - who?

  7. Shareholders and the Board.
  8. Resolution - Bob Bates and Phil Sturgess in the process of negotiation with their contacts and WFC. We need to continue our ordered approach to talking to the shareholders (we have a list). Richard Hall to contact the club about setting up an initial meeting.

  9. Local business/pubs. They will get advertising on the web/all literature.
  10. Resolution - Bob Bates has been allocated letter writing once Richard Hall has produced a template letter. A systematic approach would be best.

  11. Membership and fundraising. We need to keep the profile high - perhaps a Sportsman's evening at the Liberal Club.
  12. Resolution - Steve Shaw and Phil Sturgess to follow through with their contacts, alongside Adam Winnall. Considerations include: location; costs; trying to get a programme of such events - for instance one speaker every 2 months - this would give us a niche and a role with the wider community; and, making sure that this does not harm relations with WFC.

  13. Involving recent favourites, such as Martin O'Connor, Alan Buckley, Adrian Viveash, Andy Rammell, Kevin Wilson etc..
  14. Resolution: Richard Hall to approach key figures for: support; memorabilia to raffle; and, involvement via talks/interviews.

  15. Push Xmas memberships.
  16. Resolution - push 6 months membership for half price, to boost membership via an A5 newsletter/ handout (at Port Vale/Cambridge home games) and the press - see 9 below. We need to get leaflets into local leisure centres, libraries etc.?

  17. Poster or advertisement plus council campaign.
  18. Resolution - Bob Bates to ask about what the council can offer. See 8 above - Port Vale and Cambridge games for small (A5) newsletter. Investigate sending out the remaining leaflets via a targeted drop in a paper or through the Council/Leisure Centres etc.

  19. A raffle with proceeds split between the Trust and a local charity.
  20. Resolution - Trust Board feels we should wait for bigger membership. Richard Hall thought that this would be a useful way to highlight who we are and make the community-Trust-WFC link. To try in the New Year.

  21. Relationship with other supporters' clubs.

Resolution - Steve Shaw in process of arranging meeting with the official supporters club; Richard Hall to talk to the ISSA.
